We found this article in the Economist (YES, we sometimes read the Economist) about the politics of tokenism, and why the Republican’s choice of Alan Keyes for Senate is such a bad idea. We were going to post a link to it anyway, because we totally agree with the fact that Alan Keyes is a nut job.
But then we read this: “But it goes down particularly badly in the meat-and-potatoes mid-west, where people expect politicians to solve real problems—as the Daleys have done so spectacularly in Chicago, perhaps America’s best-run city…”
Woah. Do you hear that New York? Want to improve your city? Try bribery and cronyism. It worked for the Daleys; it can work for you too! Geektastic has a hunch that there may be a city contract in the works for The Economist. Maybe they could push that Wrigley Field paperwork through…
More info: Ex-Gov Jim Thompson does NOT endorse Keyes. Ouch.
