As our 1-year anniversary approached, someone asked us about the cake. You know the cake… The one you freeze and then eat on your anniversary. I guess it’s some kind of masochistic ritual, sort of a rite of passage.
Well, as tasty as 1-year-old cake sounds, I wasn’t disappointed when my mom told me that we never got the left-over cake. My parents had taken most of the extra stuff from the reception: the gifts, the unity candle, blahblahblah. But no one could recall getting the cake.
No big loss. Jay and I decided to order a tasty NEW cake from Jarosch bakery. A replica, if you will. Marble cake with raspberry filling. What a plan!
Until my mom found the 1-year-old cake wrapped in numerous plastic bags, buried in the basement freezer. Mmmm… 1-year-old, basement-freezer cake wrapped in a Target bag. Irresistible.
So we’re bringing the cake with us to Michigan this weekend. Can’t wait to eat that, let me tell you. If it turns out to taste as bad as it looks, Jarosch will be getting a call first thing Monday morning.
