I spent 30 minutes yesterday bringing in some potted plants that I wanted to save from the cold. In hindsight, it probably would have been a good idea to bring them in BEFORE I shampooed the carpet on Monday. Looks like I’ll be re-shampooing it this weekend. I didn’t expect them to be quites so muddy, I guess. Because why on earth would potted plants be dirty?

We turned the heat on this evening. I was trying to hold off, because our furnace hasn’t been cleaned in 2 years… The furnace guy is coming the weekend after next, so I was hoping to make it through this cold snap without turning on the heat. But it was 62 degrees in the house when I got home from work today, and it wasn’t going to get any warmer tonight. So I tested the carbon monoxide detector and turned on the heat. Besides the initial burning smell that comes with turning on the heater for the first time in a season, everything appears to be a-ok.
