Yesterday Geektastic camped out behind Wrigley Field to bring you the news you need. OK, really we were just kind of bored on our day off, but that’s beside the point. My broke ass watched the Cubs game from Waveland Avenue, where Moises Alou’s home run came within 15 feet of knocking out all my teeth, but I guess 15 feet isn’t really all that close when you think about it.
At any rate, after the game we positioned ourselves with the throngs of 10-year olds to watch the players exit the park. Is it important to know that Matt Clement drives a gangsta-rific Cadillac Escalade? Maybe not important, but God knows it made us almost pee our pants laughing at him. The most important news from the parking lot is that lefty reliever Mike Remlinger left Wrigley in a Hyundai Santa Fe. Since Hyundai is the official car brand of Geektastic, we have to give him a thumbs up for his impeccible taste and thriftyness, but we have to wonder if maybe Remlinger could use a raise. Shouldn’t a major league relief pitcher drive a better car than the broke-ass blogger stalking him in the parking lot?
Update: According to espn.com, Remlinger’s 2004 salary is almost $4 million. Maybe he spent it all on steroids?
Update to the Update: Remlinger makes more money than Mark Prior? Go Mikey!
