I never got around to writing the June Edition of the Wrigley Report, so I’m just going to skip over that and get to July:
Game Day: Friday, July 22 @ Alexian Field; Schaumburg Flyers vs. Kansas City Hayseeds (or something). OK, we couldn’t get Cubs tickets for July so we’re settling for the Schaumburg Flyers. If you have a problem with that, then I guess you should have donated some tickets. We’ll be back at Wrigley in August.
Seats: Section L, Row 16, seats 5 & 6. You never get this close at Wrigley, and at $9.50 per person, the tickets here are cheaper than those stupid Ticketmaster surcharges you’d get trying to see the Cubs.
Ceremonial First Pitch/7th Inning Stretch Celebrity: We missed the 1st pitch, but it was probably someone from the chamber commerce or the local boy scout troup. Bearon the Bear was there too. Better than Belushi!
Fashion Report: It was Jimmy Buffet night, so there were plenty of fat ladies in grass skirts and bald men in Hawaiian shirts. The lady in front of us wore a lime green cowboy hat, adorned with a flip-flop printed scarf and some kind of battery-operated clip-on hair extension (?). A guy in front of her was wearing a T-shirt with a pirate on the back, and he had a skull-and-crossbones scarf tied around his head. We couldn’t tell if he had dressed like the pirate on purpose or if he just liked pirates.
Where the drunk people are: At Alexian Field, apparently. There aren’t a lot of bars in the area… Maybe Pilot Pete’s?
Dude factor: The Hawaiian shirts were so loud that I didn’t notice an overabundance of the word “Dude.”
Everyone say hello to my mom (Hello, Mom!), who came across Geektastic while googling my name. I’m trying to remember if there’s anything on here that I wouldn’t want her to read…. Hmmm… I think I deleted all that stuff… Now that my mom is a loyal reader, maybe “when are you going to post something new on your blog?” will replace “when am I going to get some grandkids?” (sorry, Mom.) Since my mom was curious about what blogs are, I’m going to list a couple of my favorite for her:
Gawker (New York-based, media gossip blog)
Defamer (L.A.-based, celebrity gossip blog)
Mighty Goods (shopping blog)
Chicagoist (Chicago news and events)
Unbeige (Design blog)
MBToolbox (Writing blog)
OK, so I should probably have put these in the links column on the left, but it’s too late for that now. I have to blow dry my hair and get my ass to work.
Nate was going to beat me about the head if I didn’t get a July post up here. So here it is. I hope that this won’t be the only one, but you never know. You know?
Planning a wedding is HARD, ya’ll. All my spare time is taken up either with writing and wedding planning. With less than 3 months to go, I’m finally getting into action. Lacy and my mom and I met up last night to work out details for the shower. They found out that I haven’t had my dress fitted yet because I need to buy the “bridal underwear” first, and they both looked at me like I am the laziest person in the world, and then they simultaneously jotted “underwear” in their respective notebooks.
I’m sure Nate will be happy that my first post in over a month is about women’s underwear.
